Manual Therapy

Regain Mobility and Relieve Pain

Manual Therapy Langley

Manual therapy is a form of treatment offered by our physiotherapists at Twin Rinks Physiotherapy that involves skilled hand movements directed at joints, muscles, and connective tissue. It is commonly used to alleviate movement restriction or musculo-skeletal pain resulting from injuries such as whiplash, sciatica, sport injuries, and arthritis.

There are three main techniques used in manual therapy: joint mobilization, joint manipulation, and soft tissue mobilization (massage). These techniques involve applying pressure on damaged muscle tissue to help restore normal movement in the tissue and improve range of motion, reduce pain and swelling, improve muscle patterns, and increase tissue and joint mobility. In some cases, the movement may be accompanied by an audible “pop,” which is caused by gas or fluid being moved inside the joint.

Through manual therapy, our Twin Rinks Physiotherapy team can help patients regain their range of motion, decrease pain, reduce inflammation, and improve mobility, ultimately helping them get back to moving the way they want to.
